Assalamu Alaikum all, I am a mommy of four active little ones and sometimes I come across important information that I feel inclined to share with my family and friends. I really care and I want to caution others about the harmful substances that we use in our homes, but don’t realize the damage.
Asalamu alaikum fellow moms. Just like you, I worry a great deal about the health and well being of my children and want to do whatever I can to take care of them, inshaAllah. I also care deeply about you and your family and want to share something important with you.
My family and I firmly believe in a natural way of life as much as possible. From avoiding too much media, to questioning vaccines and harmful chemicals in the products we use. Recently, a close friend of mine was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which Alhumdulillah was caught early and taken care of. My friend and her family were in the habit of freely using hazardous chemicals around their house, and never thought twice about it. You see, it’s not that people want to expose themselves to these hazards, it’s usually that the chemicals in these cleaning products have a nice clean smell and feel when using it. But have we ever asked ourselves…
What are really in these products?
My friend and her family finally had to ask this question, after her life threatening ordeal. Now they have decided to convert to the natural way. The only products they use to clean their entire house is vinegar, lemon and baking soda. It may sound crazy, but it’s really all you need. If you want to add a nicer smell to your mixture, add essential oils. I’m really happy for my friend and pray that their entire family is safer and healthier from now on, InshAllah. Here are some links on the uses of lemon and vinegar.
Our Blessed Prophet(saw) mentioned the importance and blessing of vinegar in our homes too. Please learn more about it from the following website:
I also want to mention, that aside from cleaning our house with chemicals, I also think we put too much chemicals on our body in terms of shampoos, soaps, deodorants, perfumes and body sprays. There are environmentally safe products out there, and I personally don’t feel as if we have to smell like flowers all the time. I prefer smelling clean. Another alternative? How about spraying the perfume on you clothes, instead of your delicate skin.
If you are interested in taking precautions, here is another important tip. Try to avoid paraben in cosmetic products. Read the following link for more information.
I hope my post was helpful in making you question the products you use. With duas and love.
